About Programme

First aid and emergency involve urgent on-site interventions to patients or victims of accidents with various medical equipment by medical staff trained in this field. First aid and emergency programme train qualified health technicians with the capability to provide patients and victims of accidents with basic and advanced life support in prehospital care period, and provide safe transfer of sick and wounded patients to hospitals.

Goal

This programme contributes to the development of health services in our country through training individuals with superior knowledge and skills and the capability to provide patients and wounded people with basic and advanced life support, recognize all kinds of system traumas, implement proper emergency intervention, and enable safe and quick transfer of patients and wounded to hospitals who received first aid, within the frame of training programmes prepared in accordance with international professional criteria and in line with scientific, technological and modern values.

Target

First aid and emergency program aims to train the future professional first aid and emergency technicians and to be a widely preferred program by students. It aims to train innovative, entrepreneur responsible, vision holder individuals having ethical values and a global information level, who persistently improve themselves, generate knowledge and put this information into practice.

Admisson

Admission requirements are determined by OSYM according to regulations of Council of Higher Education. Students are placed by Central Placement OSYM examination acccording to the YGS-2 score type results for the First and Immediate Aid Programme.

Graduation Requirements

  Students who successfully complete all compulsory courses specified in the course plan and the minimum number of elective courses required; complete 120 ECTS credits and have a minimum CGPA of 2.00/ 4.00 will graduate.tion.

 

Degree To Earn

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded First Aid and Emergency Associate Degree.

Transition To Top Level

The students of First Aid and Emergency program can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Emergency Service and Disaster Management", "Nursing Care", and "Nursing and Health Services" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).

Employment Opportunities

The graduates work as ‘ paramedics ‘in public and private health institutions and organizations. The graduates work mainly fort he units which give emergency health services of health services of health instutions and other instutions and organizations. Employment fields are the Emergency Services, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centres, Privates Ambulance Services etc. Of the public and private with/ without beds health institutions and organizations under the Health Ministry.

Grade and Level Gained

   It is a program that provides associate degree education.

Grade Requirements and Rules

The undergraduate students in this program must be successful in all of the courses with a minimum achievement grade of DD, must have completed at least 120 ECTS credits and have scored a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00. At the same time, the students must complete their compulsory internship within the designated period of time and within the scope of necessary qualifications.
